About Us Slough Music Service is the local authority music service for Slough, based at Beechwood, a community school, conference and research centre and sports facility in the north-west of the borough. We are funded by central government and supported by Beechwood School and Slough Borough Council to provide enhanced musical experiences for children and young people in Slough. We aim to offer tailored services to meet the needs of each young musician, school and teacher in Slough, in line with the priorities of the local authority and central government. We achieve this by working closely with schools to deliver an integrated programme of vocal and instrumental tuition, a range of supporting workshops and events and training for teachers and other adults and young people. Some of this work is delivered directly by music service staff, whilst we place significant importance on enabling school-based staff and young music leaders to deliver music at a level appropriate to their skills. We also work with local and national partners to offer a broad range of opportunities for all. We are supported by Beechwood Community School in our strategic planning and day to day business activity. We also benefit from the advice of the music service steering group comprising music and head teachers from primary and secondary schools in Slough as well as representatives from our arts partners in the area. Our key aims are:
Slough has an exciting, vibrant and diverse community. Creativity leads our ethos, keeping us at the leading edge of music development locally and nationally.
